Voice of Democracy Program
VFW Lilac Post 5815 and its Ladies Auxiliary invite all high school students in
Lombard, including home-schooled students, to participate
in the VFW Voice of Democracy Scholarship Competition.
The theme for 2011-2012 is "Is There Pride in Serving in Our Military?" All entries must
be received by the VFW Post by November 1, 2011. The top
scholarship award is $30,000.
Students compete by writing an essay and recording it on an audio CD or cassette tape. This year’s theme is Is There Pride in Serving in Our Military? The recording should be no shorter than 3 minutes and no longer than 5 minutes (plus or minus 5 seconds), and the student cannot be identified in any way in the body of the essay or in the audio recording.
Students in the Lombard, Illinois, area should download this 2011-2012 Voice of Democracy Flyer and Official Entry Form for VFW Lilac Post 5815. These students should submit their Entry Form, neatly typed essay, and audio CD or cassette to George G. Miller, Commander, VFW Lilac Post 5815,
1411 Childs St., Wheaton, IL 60187-4601. Be sure to read and follow the rules on the flyer.
